Prompt: It was heavier than I expected

It was a Wednesday morning after the holidays and I felt fresh and ready for the day, I had gotten some water and food by the gardeners so I was happier than ever. It was 7:50. So quiet and peaceful. Then I heard a noise, it was chatter. “Who would come in so early!?” I wondered. Oh… it was children going to handbells. “Such annoying little kids” I thought to myself. A few hours later and it had turned 8:34. NOOOOOO!!! There was a person climbing me and it had already scratched me. It was heavier than I expected. “OUCH!” I shouted. I snapped. WHY DO PEOPLE CLIMB TREES!?

For this week, we had to do a 100 word challenge with these words: bicycle, desperate, yellow, warned and greedily. Except, it had to link with our exhibition. My exhibition topic is Climate change and my story is from the Earth’s point of view showing that we are trashing earth and only a couple people care but not enough people to stop it. Here is my story:

Bicycle Desperate Yellow Warned Greedily

I have come a long way and I want to keep on going, I have thrived many times and failed many times and most of the cause is you. I have warned you to listen to me but you have not. You can still help though so listen. You can ride your bicycle to decrease the amount of petrol used. Tell friends and spread the news. You are greedily taking over. You see colours. You see reds and yellows and greens and blues but I can see real life. It’s burning. I am desperate to make a change. From Earth.

100 Word Challenge

Freddy stopped. Benjamin followed… “Why are we stopping?” Benjamin muttered in silence.

“I can see them.” Freddy replied. Freddy slowly pointed to the person that he meant and Benjamin was shocked.

“Don’t let them spot us otherwise we’re dead.” They both thought. They were frozen for nearly 1 hour and they thought they would still be there for the rest of the day. It was the evening and those evil people were still at the café opposite of Benjamin and Freddy. They were whispering to each other about how they can escape without being seen. They moved. They got caught.

Exhibition Talk #2

Our exhibition has been going very well and we were a bit behind but now the whole Year 5 has caught up! Personally, I am a bit stressed because exhibition is coming soon but I know that I have done enough research to have a good conversation with the audience. We are up to the “making conclusions” stage which is just where we finalise what is going to be displayed on the night. I have thought about the Taking Action and what I will do. It is the stage after Making Conclusions. I am planning to make a persuasive text to our principal about making a “plant a tree day” because we are cutting trees and that is a part of the problem for climate change AND… if that works, I will hopefully be able to say a speech with one of my friends in the climate change group at assembly. Make sure to stay tuned because I am going to have another reflection soon!

Exhibition talk! #1

In Year 5, we have been using lots of our time on Exhibition. We finished the first stage a few days ago and it was the ‘Tuning in’ stage. In that stage we  figured out our global issue, found out our group (people that have similar global issues), we started mentor meetings as well, that meant we went with our group to a staff member and talked about our progress and they gave feedback. We also had team meetings which were just our group talking about goals and what we’ve done already. We made our central idea and our lines of inquiry. But before our lines of inquiry, we had to make questions about our issue. That part was fun for me. Then we got a Lotus diagram and we had to put the questions into a category, which was… key concepts! Then we got three key concepts, (the one where most questions fitted in) and made three lines of inquiry, one for each concept.   The second stage (which we are doing now) is called the researching stage. It’s pretty obvious what we are supposed to do! We have to research our questions from our Lotus diagrams. I have researched about 8 of my questions and i have 1 left. Stay tuned in to find out more information about Year 5 Exhibition at Yasmin’s blog!

100 word challenge

Charlise was sitting at the table, panicking because she didn’t think she could continue. The teacher, Bob, had given them a test and Charlise was stuck on the second question!!! The first was 1+1 which was EASY! But the second was impossible! “No one’s smart enough to answer this!” Charlise thought. It was 2+2!!! SO HARD! She was worried. Her legs were shaking and her forehead was sweating, she didn’t know what to do, suddenly, she saw her friend go up to Bob and ask something, she saw that it’s ok to ask if you’re unsure and in the end she got an F-. “That’s great!” She thought.
